An unemployed tried to catch fire in Algeria

An unemployed tried to set fire in Algeria, on a Sunday in which a group of unemployed Algerians made a protest outside the Ministry of Labour. A police officer, aided by a journalist prevented the man caught fire after having doused with gasoline.

About a hundred unemployed, coming from different regions of the country, staged a sit-in protest peacefully. Police baton-charged protesters and broke up the protest, causing at least two wounded.

"We have come to say enough is enough of oppression and we have responded with batons in the head," said committee coordinator Algerian rights of the unemployed, Tahar Belabbes. Subsequently, the Labour Ministry officials received two representatives of the protesters.

As is known, immolation in Tunisia triggered street demonstrations in Tunisia and Egypt in the last two weeks.
